How practise I delete everything off my estimator except the operating organisation?
Click Start, then cull "Control Console." Click "System and Security," then cull "Restore Your Figurer to an Earlier Time" in the Action Center section. 2. Click "Advanced Recovery Methods," and so choose "Return Your Computer to Mill Condition."

Will Belarc Counselor show me make & model number?

  • #v

Hi Yes It should show you make & model number. If your PC doesn't have the recovery partitioning, yous will need a restore CD to restore back to factory. Here's ways to set HP dorsum to factory. Yous can find restore disks for XP on amazon. They are very cheap.

How-do-you-do Restoring back to manufacturing plant is different for each brand and model. Your link takes me here. The first link is hither. If yous post your make and model, someone here will assist you lot.

Where on Belarc Advisor will I observe make & model? Give thanks yous.[/QUOTE]
I don't utilise Belarc Advisior. I apply Speccy.
No! Y'all don't clone a OS. You clone the Difficult Drive. You lot need a tertiary party epitome program like Macrium Reverberate to create a clone. You could endeavor to clean the PC if information technology'southward infected. That's a whole dissimilar ball game.

Seems like that isn't an ideal use of an old calculator (storing pictures), since you can just accomplish this with an external hard drive or even USB stick. However, if that is really all you want to do with information technology you could consider a lite linux distribution such as PuppyLinux , you can store your photos with that and have a fully functional Os that can be networked without the security concerns that XP brings.

Fully empathize. At the fourth dimension of that mail, I had no thought the harddrive is but 185 gb's. Its been a pain simply finding programs to use on it to get it clean . I think I'll see if @Broni can get it clean for me & go from there. I was hoping to reset information technology to manufactory setting instead of cleaning information technology only........Cheers for your input, I capeesh information technology.

  • #16

I don't think it is worth 'cleaning' to all the same stop up with an OS that isn't receiving support/updates anymore. You could probably notice an iso of XPSP3 online somewhere or buy 1 from eBay and accomplish your goal quicker and with less headaches than trying to make clean a compromised Os. (but I still think the best option if you want to have the computer able to do real work would be to run a lightweight linux)

  • #17

Cheers, I may just try Linux after all

  • #18

Seems like that isn't an ideal use of an former computer (storing pictures), since yous can just accomplish this with an external difficult bulldoze or even USB stick. Even so, if that is really all you lot desire to do with it you could consider a light linux distribution such as PuppyLinux , you tin store your photos with that and accept a fully functional OS that can be networked without the security concerns that XP brings.

I'm being totally honest when I say I know zero most Linux. That said, if you could give me a stride past footstep instructions on how to install PuppyLinux on my WXP Professional, I'd capeesh information technology. I do accept some cd/rw & I think some CDR discs

Where on Belarc Counselor will I find make & model? Thanks.

I don't use Belarc Advisior. I use Speccy.
No! You lot don't clone a Bone. You clone the Difficult Drive. You need a 3rd party prototype program similar Macrium Reflect to create a clone. You could try to make clean the PC if it's infected. That's a whole different ball game.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but there is no recovery partition :( .

  • #24

Thank you for your reply. I would suggest you install a Linux OS, or make clean it upwardly then stay off the net, because XP is no longer supported past MS and you lot volition be exposed to all kinds of ransomware and other malware. I prefer UBUNTU. https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Proficient luck!
